Bill Ellson Reserve – Human Mobility Analysis
City of Melville
In response to the need for a comprehensive understanding of space utilization within the Bill Ellson Reserve, the City of Melville engaged our team to undertake a data led human mobility analysis. This study was aimed at capturing and interpreting the digital traces left by individuals’ devices as they moved through the reserve. Using data that spanned between May 2019 to May 2023, this analysis encapsulated the ways in which the space was accessed, the density of foot traffic, and the temporal patterns of reserve usage.
What we delivered
An innovative geospatial analysis of human movement data both within the Reserve and throughout the City of Melville
A suite of maps and calendar heat charts, visually representing the prevalent usage paths and establishing the reserve's true catchment area.
A detailed report offering insights into the reserve’s patterns of frequentation and the timing of visits, which is vital for strategic development and community engagement.
